Saugus Action Volunteers for the Environment (SAVE) will hold another “It’s New To You” SWAP on Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 10 am to 1 pm at Breakheart Reservation.
SAVE, the Friends of Breakheart, and DCR have joined together once again to help keep still-usable items out of the waste stream. This free, no-money event will be held in conjunction with BREAKHEART’S FALL FESTIVAL and is open to one and all. Feel free to bring usable items in good condition to the swap, or simply come by and browse – you may find something you can use.
Again, this is a FREE event, no money, just a simple swap. You can bring items or take items, you do not have to do both. Bring usable items in good condition to the SWAP, typically those things you no longer want but that are too good to throw away, and perhaps find a treasure or two to take home with you. (Please, we ask that you do not bring items that require special disposal.)
Residents are also encouraged to bring your worn-out sneakers or athletic shoes (any brand) for drop-off in our recycling bin for the Nike Reuse-a-Shoe program. The donated shoes will be ground up and purified to become a material called Nike Grind. The material will eventually become part of sports surfacing products ranging from basketball and tennis courts to fitness flooring and safety playground surfacing. This is an easy way for each of us to continue our recycling efforts and further reduce our carbon footprint.
Mark your calendar. CELEBRATE FALL FESTIVAL AND HELP SAVE THE PLANET BY CONTINUING TO RECYCLE. Stop by at the Breakheart Christopher P. Dunne Visitors Center, 177 Forest Street, Saugus, on September 24th. And remember, as we move toward ZERO WASTE: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!
